Chin Hon is currently taking charge of Data Governance and CyberSecurity for one of the established financial institutions in Malaysia. His major role is to ensure the company adhere to the Bank Negara Malaysia policy documents on Risk Management in Technology, Data Management & MIS Framework and Management of Customer Information and Permitted Disclosure. In addition, for his current role, he has conducted various session on cybersecurity: for internal staff, agents and to Board of Directors covering diverse topics catered to the expectation of the participants.
He started his profession as External Auditor at Arthur Andersen before joining Ernst & Young. His experience at the professional firm increased his proficiency in various IT General Control Review and application control review on different operating systems and specialized application tailored for specific industries. He covered numerous industries but mainly on financial institutions, ranging from private to public sectors. After he left the professional firm as Manager in IT Audit, his skillset was sought after by a FMCG company, to set up an IT Audit function for the company, focusing on SAP application.
He graduated with Distinction for his Master of Business Administration degree, from University of Strathclyde, Scotland. He has a range of professional qualification to commensurate with his years of experiences in IT Security Control and in the area of CyberSecurity. He is Certified Information Security Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC), Certified in Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT), Certified CyberSecurity Practitioner (CSX-P) and Certified Authorisation Professional (CAP).
In addition, Chin Hon is the Accredited Trainer for CISA, CISM, CRISC and CGEIT – awarded by APMG UK. He has conducted various session for professionals who want to sit for the CISA, CISM, CRISC or CGEIT certification. He has presented at various conferences – ISACA Malaysia Cybersecurity, IT Assurance and Governance Conference, and recently at the IERP® Virtual Global Conference 2020. He also conducted training on Auditing Windows, SAP Control Review, Auditing using the Computer-Assisted Audit Tools. The participants were from both private and public sectors.
To “give back” to the profession he served and sat on the Board of Directors of ISACA Malaysia Chapter from 2000 to 2020 – holdings various positions in charge of diverse portfolio, including holding position as Chapter Officer.
