Khushwant Singh

Khushwant Singh is a seasoned Risk Management professional with over 26 years of global financial industry experience spanning across the SEA region and the Middle East. He has demonstrated expertise in establishing and managing risk functions across financial and non-financial sectors in start-ups as well as large-scale enterprises.

As the Group Chief Risk & Credit Officer at GHL Systems Berhad, Khushwant heads the strategy and implementation of Risk and Credit frameworks as well as organisation processes.

His previous experiences include being the Head of Group Risk at Capital A (formerly known as AirAsia Group), where he oversaw the comprehensive Risk Management framework and its successful implementation. He also served in various capacities at Group Operational Risk, Maybank including as the Head, Operational Risk, Group Global Banking, holding a central role in the ownership and refinement of the Operational Risk Management framework, standards, policies, and methodologies. He was a key member of the winning team that delivered the 2013 Operational Risk Infrastructure Risk Management Award by Asian Bankers to Maybank.

Khushwant’s experience also extends to the Middle East, where he was a Senior Risk Specialist at Al-Khalij Commercial Bank and later as the Operational Risk and Fraud Manager at Abu Dhabi Finance. He began his career at Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia,
where he spent a decade working in the Country Risk function entailing Credit & Card Risk Management.

Khushwant holds an MBA in Finance from University of Southern Queensland, Australia. He is also a Certified Bank Risk Management from the Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers. For his contribution to the financial industry, Khushwant was appointed as a Moderator in the Financial Accreditation (FAA) Agency Moderation Committee for the discipline of Risk
Management and is a fellow FAA Accreditation Panel member.
