Sharifah Bakar Ali is the Head of ESG at UEM Edgenta Berhad, where she leads the organisation’s sustainability agenda, including regulatory compliance, ESG integration, and the development of a sustainability culture. She was instrumental in establishing Edgenta’s ESG team and developing its sustainability roadmap.
Prior to this, Sharifah founded Bespoke Globiz, an Asia-based consulting and advisory firm, providing investor relations and transformation advisory services across Southeast Asia. She has also held senior roles in business development and investment banking, specialising in debt capital markets and Islamic finance, including advising on landmark residential mortgage-backed securitisation transactions.
A Chevening Scholar, Sharifah holds a Master of Business Administration from Cambridge Judge Business School and a Bachelor of Accounting (Hons) from International Islamic University Malaysia. She is a Chartered Accountant and Certified Public Accountant.
