Mathias Varming

Mathias is an experienced sustainability professional with over 15 years of expertise implementing corporate sustainability strategies across diverse sectors, including conventional and renewable energy, plantations, property, utilities, and hospitality. He is the co-founder of two sustainability-driven start-ups: Evenergy, a blockchain based platform for renewable energy certificates, and Plan8, a collective of climate change professionals working across the U.S., Europe, and Asia. In addition to his corporate roles, Mathias has contributed to national policy and public-sector initiatives.

These include the Malaysian National Climate Change Mitigation Action Plan and a climate risk assessment scoping study for local authorities in Greater Kuala Lumpur. He has also been involved in research collaborations with the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (UN FAO) and The Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs (IDEAS). Mathias holds an MBA from the Asia School of Business in collaboration with MIT Sloan, and a Bachelor’s degree from Roskilde University, Denmark.
